What it covers
The book sets out the manufacturer's duties for products intended for the European market. It is based on the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU and the German Product Safety Act (ProdSG). Further directives such as ATEX, EMC and Low Voltage are addressed, and the risk assessment and conformity assessment procedures are explained in detail.
It also gives an overview of the operator's obligations under the German Occupational Safety Act and the Industrial Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV), including the authorisation procedure for installations subject to monitoring under Section 18 BetrSichV. A dedicated chapter covers market surveillance, product liability and the legal consequences of non-compliance.
